Ancient Stagira , Stagirus (/-rəs/), or Stageira (Greek: Στάγειρα or Στάγειρος) was an ancient Greek city whose site lies approximately 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) north northeast of the present-day village of Stagira, close to the town of Olympiada, known for being the birthplace of Aristotle, the greatest philosopher of ancient times, student of Plato and the tutor of Alexander the Great. The city was founded in ca. 655 B.C. by colonists from the island of Andros.

Petralona Cave is one of Europe’s most impressive and important caves thanks to its wealth of fossils (one of the richest collections in Europe) and to the discovery of a human scull that dates back approximately 700.000 years and it is located 300 m (984 ft) above sea-level on the western foot of Mount Katsika, about 1 km (0.62 mi) east of the village of Petralona.

Porto Koufo is a bay located in the Toroneos Gulf with a small natural being the biggest and safest natural harbour in Greece. Porto Koufo offers a calm mooring for fishing boats and yachts in all weathers. The sea depth ranges from 10 to 35 meters.
